Firefox is a web browser that allows users to customize its appearance and functionality with add-ons. Add-ons can be extensions, themes, plugins, services, search providers, or language packs. ..

Mozilla has released a new version of Firefox that includes automatic updates, though this can be changed in the Firefox browser’s settings. Additionally, add-ons that you install from the Add-ons page in the Firefox browser are approved by Mozilla and should be safe to use. You can also download add-ons from third-party sites and install them manually, but these add-ons are not checked by Mozilla.

Finding Add-ons

Once you have opened Add-ons, select the Firefox extension you want to install. If you are using Firefox 3.6 or later, there is a new Add-ons window that will open when you click on the extension. If you are using earlier versions of Firefox, then open the Firefox Options window and then click on Add-ons in the top left corner of the window. If you are using a Mozilla add-on manager such as Mozilla Add-ons for Windows or Mozilla Add-ons for Mac, then open that manager and select the extension from the list of extensions when you open the add-on manager.

If you are looking for an add-on, please open a new tab and find it in the list of add-ons at the top.

To install an add-on, just click the Install button. Some add-ons will require a restart of the browser and some will not. For some reason, only the website gallery shows you which add-ons don’t require a restart. ..

Mozilla offers a website that allows users to find add-ons. This website is better because it allows users to search by categories, most popular, top rated, most users, newest, etc.

The Firefox website is easier to use than the desktop version. It has a Collections section that is created by users who group together several Firefox add-ons that relate to a specific idea or concept. ..

The Reference Desk collection installs ScrapBook, Merriam-Webster and Memonic Web Clipper together. If you’re a web developer, the Web Developer’s Toolbox has 12 add-ons that are perfect for troubleshooting, editing and debugging web projects.

How can we manage our add-ons and themes?

Managing Add-ons

If you’re using an add-on that blocks ads, you’ll see a new icon in your Firefox toolbar. This is the AdBlock Plus icon, and the NoScript icon if you’re using NoScript.

Some people find it helpful to have buttons in the toolbar that allow them to control the settings for each webpage they visit. This is especially useful if you use other add-ons, as those add-ons may not include a button in your toolbar. You can customize what shows up in your toolbar by clicking on the settings icon and then clicking on Customize at the very bottom. ..

The Additional Tools and Features section on the left of Firefox’s main window is where you can customize Firefox’s appearance, add features to the toolbar, and set preferences for how Firefox behaves.

Drag and drop items to create customizations. If there are other buttons available for the add-ons you have installed, those extra buttons will show up in the left-hand section.

If you click on the Extensions tab, you’ll see a list of all the add-ons that are currently installed on your Firefox browser. From here, you can either install new add-ons or remove them. ..

On the right side of the Firefox window, you’ll see all of your installed plugins. At the top, you’ll see a gear icon, which will allow you to check for add-on updates, install an add-on from a file, or turn off automatic updates of add-ons. If you want to manually update your add-ons, simply uncheck the appropriate box. ..

Option 1: Remove the plugin Option 2: Disable a plugin

The Options button allows you to configure settings included by the developer for your add-on. For example, the options for Search By Image from Google add-on let you choose whether or not to show the camera icon when hovering over an image.

That’s all you can do with add-ons. If you click on Appearance, you can change the Firefox theme to any other theme that you installed.
