According to Microsoft, “As we make this shift toward a transformational AI-powered assistant experience in Microsoft 365, we need to adjust our focus areas of innovation and development to give our customers assistance where they need it most. As a result, we are making changes to some U.S. consumer-centric features and functionalities with lower usage.” The change will take place in the next upcoming months, but this will be considered as a big step from Microsoft to make Cortana a more specialized, productivity focussed assistant instead of whirling it around the alternatives including Google Assistant, Alexa, etc. The company has started making changes in Cortana on Windows 10 earlier this year, the company has decided the date of 7th September 2020 for removing the third-party Cortana skills.
